چکیده
Abstract The quantum advantage threshold determines when a processing unit (QPU) is more efficient with respect to classical computing hardware in terms of algorithmic complexity. ‘green’ threshold—based on comparison energetic efficiency between the two—is going play fundamental role and hardware. Indeed, its characterization would enable better decisions energy-saving strategies, e.g. for distributing workload hybrid quantum–classical algorithms. Here, we show that green crucially depends (a) quality experimental gates (b) entanglement generated QPU. noisy intermediate-scale algorithms requiring moderate amount entanglement, tensor network emulation can be energy-efficient at equal final state fidelity than computation. We compute few paradigmatic examples platforms, identify power-law decay singular values bipartitions—with exponent ? ? 1 —as near future.

Threshold Estimate for Fault Tolerant Quantum Computing
I make a rough estimate of the accuracy threshold for fault tolerant quantum computing with concatenated codes. First I consider only gate errors and use the depolarizing channel error model. I will follow P.Shor [1] for fault tolerant error correction (FTEC) and the fault tolerant implementation of elementary operations on states encoded by the 7-qubit code. A simple computer simulation sugges...
متن کاملQuantum Computing: an Introduction
After some remarks on the fundamental physical nature of information, Bennett and Fredkin's ideas of reversible computation are introduced. This leads on to the suggestions of Benioff and Feynman as to the possibility of a new type of essentially ‘quantum computers’. If we can build such devices, Deutsch showed that ‘quantum parallelism’ leads to new algorithms and new complexity classes. This ...
متن کاملImproving Cache Energy Efficiency for Green Computing
Green computing refers to the study and practice of designing, operating and disposing computing systems effectively in a manner which creates minimal or no impact on the environment. With increasing use of computing systems, their total energy consumption has also increased and it has been estimated that the carbon emission of ICT (information and communication technology) will triple from 200...
متن کاملAn Introduction to Quantum Computing
Quantum Computing is a new and exciting field at the intersection of mathematics, computer science and physics. It concerns a utilization of quantum mechanics to improve the efficiency of computation. Here we present a gentle introduction to some of the ideas in quantum computing. The paper begins by motivating the central ideas of quantum mechanics and quantum computation with simple toy model...
